Alec Baldwin Goes Nuts On Twitter; Amy Poehler Has Extremely Timely Advice
A coincidence of timing brings the former NBC Thursday sitcom colleagues back together.
Here's what happened. Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, attended James Gandolfini's funeral yesterday. And since several tweets were published on Hilaria's Twitter feed while the funeral was...uh, happening, George Stark of the Daily Mail reported that she'd been tweeting at the funeral -- which, I'm no expert, but this seems like a reasonable conclusion to have drawn. In his usual measured, reasonable manner, Baldwin leaped to his wife's defense on his own Twitter feed, complete with homophobic slurs and threats of violence. (He's since taken down the tweets, but he couldn't think that would end this, could he? Anyway, it didn't: Gawker has a screen shot of the whole rant.) I think Anne T. Donahue put it best:
Every so often, we're reminded that Alec Baldwin is not Jack Donaghy, there is no Liz Lemon to give him advice, and that he is terrifying.

I mean, it's not like Jack Donaghy didn't have bad qualities entirely distinct from Baldwin's...but I have to think he'd have the sense not to pick a fight with a journalist on Twitter, of all places. How déclassé.
As it happens, Amy Poehler -- who, for years, shared Thursday nights with Baldwin on NBC -- released a new video yesterday on her Smart Girls At The Party channel, full of advice Baldwin would do well to take.
Alec: listen to your friend Amy Poehler. She's a cool dude.
