Holy Geez, REVERSE 'Ermahgerd! Kernader!'

All Canadians owe a debt of gratitude to NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair this week for doing something Americans generally think we are not capable of doing. On shows like 30 Rock, we cheerfully beg your pardon and can barely stand to warn you that you're about to break the extra bone we all have in our hands. We're portrayed as polite and self-effacing -- and in general, we are, because there's hardly any point in trying to out-macho our southern neighbours. But occasionally we can get off a sick burn, like my hero Mulcair did this week.

Congratulations to Thomas Mulcair not just for shutting down his opponents in the House of Commons but for pulling off the extremely rare reverse "Ermahgerd! Kernader!" If he knew how many Americans were talking about him, he would probably blush redder than the red parts of our flag.

Just how Canadian is this?

The Canadianosity Scale™ measures both the accuracy and Canadiannessity of a mention of Canada on American television...not the other way around! A score of negative five is roughly equivalent to a Korean exchange student dressed up like Uncle Sam.
