The Most Important Non-Verbal Moments Of Behind The Candelabra
I admit that devoting a full week of hype to Behind The Candelabra was a decision that could have ended up horribly bad. Sure, the project looks incredible on paper, and the trailer would have made any sensible person swoon, but lots of seemingly well-designed films with excellent marketing turn out to be crappy; betting on Candelabra, while it was seemingly, probably, pretty safe, was still a bet, and one we could have lost.
Fortunately, it paid off like a motherfucker -- and for real, not like that slot machine in Liberace's living room that totally screwed over his mom (Debbie Reynolds).
We're still sorting through our feelings (and frankly, Behind The Candelabra Week will probably end up stretching to a fortnight), but let's start with this collection of the film's most important non-verbal moments that don't star Billy Leatherwood (Cheyenne Jackson), whose incredible mute performance deserves its own post and will get one later this week. Is this a lot of images? Sure. But like the man said, too much of a good thing is wonderful, and too much of a great thing is a significant historical document.
