The Belcher Kids Are Bad At Fun

Last night's excellent episode of Bob's Burgers -- which, full disclosure, was written by our friend Wendy Molyneux and our enemy Lizzie Molyneux (just kidding, she's also great) -- revolved around Bob (voice of H. Jon Benjamin) experiencing recovered memories about the childhood he never realized was actually bad. ("Get back to work!" -- Bob's dad, a thousand times throughout his childhood, apparently.) As a consequence, Bob decides to give his own kids the summer off from the restaurant so that they can have some of the fun he never did. Unfortunately, the Belcher kids are so unaccustomed to having discretionary time that they suck at having carefree, kid-like fun -- "Augh, summer is awful!" says Gene. "There's too much pressure to enjoy yourself, it's like New Year's Eve for kids!" which the show conveys in the very best way: with a montage set to original, descriptive music.
