Holt's Campaign To Lead A Gay Advocacy Group Has A Floorgasm
Finally, Brooklyn Nine-Nine lets us see Gina's dance group in action!
As soon as Brooklyn Nine-Nine informed us that one of the (weird, self-aggrandizing) ways Gina spends her off time is leading an amateur dance crew called Floorgasm, it was only a matter of time before we got to see them in action. In the latest episode, we finally got a reason for Floorgasm to bust a move, and thank God.
As the episode begins, Holt learns that a young officer named Brian (not "Brain," though Gina refuses to be corrected) wants to run for the presidency of the AAGLNYCPA: the African-American Gay & Lesbian Police Association. The AAGLNYCPA — which is just a great abbreviation — is an advocacy group Holt started and of which he was, for many years, not just President but its sole member. So while Holt is cordial with Brian, as soon as he's left, he starts hatching plans to destroy him.
Naturally, Gina volunteers to be part of the campaign effort: "I was born for politics! I have great hair and I love lying!" But when Holt rejects her suggestion of presenting him in a silver suit, with sunglasses and roller skates, as "the candidate of fun," she has to come up with another idea for giving Holt's campaign some pizzazz. ENTER FLOORGASM.
Where Gina et al even found leg warmers in the year 2014, I'm sure I don't know. Either they're giant arm warmers, or Gina knitted them herself.
It's either pride at the good work the AAGLNYCPA has done that made Brian's candidacy possible or doubt in his own judgment at having enlisted Gina as his campaign manager that leads Holt to withdraw from the race; whatever the reason, the way is cleared for Brian to carry on Holt's legacy, and even though Holt stops them from busting their moves at the actual AAGLNYCPA meeting, Gina has proved that Floorgasm's (stolen) choreo is tight, and that they're ready to perform at the squad's next birthday event, block party, or funeral.
