The Brooklyn Nine-Nine Squad Members Attack The Figgis Operation, Each In Their Own Unique Ways

Brooklyn Nine-Nine sends off the season with a quintessential line for each character. And here they are!

Last night's Season 3 finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine picked back up where last week's cliffhanger left off: with Peralta desperately trying to raise Holt on the phone and warn him that his old partner Bob was now a dirty FBI agent -- though, as Peralta couldn't know, Holt had figured that out himself when Bob killed a suspect and pulled a gun on Holt himself. The whole squad fans out to rescue Holt and preserve the investigation: Gina tracks Holt's phone to determine he's still in the hospital; Peralta and Diaz (not much helped by Scully and Hitchcock) track Holt's chocolate smears to the roof; Sgt. Terry subdues Bob physically; and then everyone disguises themselves as doctors or patients to sneak out of the building and elude Figgis's assassins by repairing to Diaz's apartment -- since, as she says, no one knows where she lives or will ever connect the place to her: "I rent it out under a shell corporation. My mail goes to a P.O. box in Queens. My neighbours think my name is Emily Goldfinch." It seems Diaz is wrong, however, when a laser sight strikes Bob in the chest and, after Peralta knocks him out of the way, Bob begs the squad to protect them and sends Peralta to retrieve the real Figgis file Bob absconded with in the last episode.

Only, whoops, it was all an elaborate pageant put on to elicit exactly this reaction from Bob. A week later, Figgis's organization is in tatters following the arrest of some 70+ henchmen -- not Figgis himself, though it's only a matter of time! Pimento is closer to being able to return from hiding; Jake and Amy have decided to move in together; and everything would be perfect...if not for Figgis calling Jake and declaring his intention to avenge the loss of his illegitimate business by killing them both.

Cut to Coral Gables, Florida, one month later, where "Greg" and "Larry" now make their homes.

Before closing yet another season on a cliffhanger, though, the show gives each member of the squad a line that epitomizes his or her character and reminds us why they all click so well together and deserve to mark victories (er...even ones that are kind of brief) with celebratory chants.

Holt

Confronting the evidence that Bob is not what he seems is a tough moment for Holt and his deadpan-est deadpan.

Fox

Terry

In order to sell the illusion that he's a doctor, he gets to yell out a bunch of jargon he's learned from the "surprisingly accurate" Grey's Anatomy.

Fox

Gina

With Bob secured, Peralta gives a status update: a shitload of black SUVs have just pulled up to the hospital.

Fox Fox

Charles

Amy's fake baby bump gets her all kinds of pregnant-lady perks -- including a First Class upgrade from Texas (inmate "Cortez" is so lucky the Supreme Court overturned her conviction so she could get out of prison!) back to New York. It doesn't take long for Charles to get used to the good life.

Fox

Diaz

The exigent circumstances require Diaz to offer up her apartment -- don't worry: now that everyone's been in it, she'll be trashing it and moving the next day -- but while Jake had been expecting "rock walls, weapons everywhere, a waterfall for a door -- I guess I was just picturing the Batcave," Diaz has endless layers and takes gracious living seriously.

Fox Fox

Amy

Being in the air and unable to help the squad during the crisis has Amy spiraling, so since not even 27 Dresses has effectively distracted her, Charles encourages her to talk through all her feelings.

Fox

Peralta

Peralta knows they need to get Bob "out of the hospital" to "a secure location," but the ways of "grownups" are still very mysterious to this technical adult.
