The great thing about Nick (Jake Johnson) is everything, but especially how his confidence and his lack of conviction are in perfect balance.  And now that Jess (Zooey Deschanel) is teaching an adult-education creative writing class, he has the opportunity to bloviate about the craft he thinks he practices, right up to the point where he loses faith in his own remarks as he's literally in the process of making them.
