Ron's Worst Nightmare Turns Beautiful Dream Come True
Ron finds love in a hopeless place (a public elementary school).
Since I have still not come to terms with the fact that Leslie is (a) pregnant with (b) triplets (but for the record, I AM FURIOUS ABOUT IT, and will have more to say next week), let's focus on the moment from the latest Parks & Recreation that filled me with uncomplicated joy: Ron Swanson's uncomplicated joy.
In the latest episode, Ron has been forced to go to his stepdaughters' school and build sets for a history pageant. He's asked Donna to come help with the costumes, and she agrees, though she has a condition: she needs him to help keep her away from her ex, Joe. As Donna explains, Joe is her Tammy Two, in that when she's around him, she turns into someone she can't recognize. Ron is a good friend, and he duly ices out Joe when they meet, even though, from what the layman can tell, Joe is the sweetest man in the world -- a kind, dedicated educator who's just spent six hours to find a student's lost dog. But then Ron learns that on top of all the qualities that would endear Joe to ANYONE, he also knows carpentry, and: forget it.
It's not just that Ron can't stop himself being won over that's so adorable, although that's part of it (and how I wish I thought this means Joe might become a recurring friend for Ron, because he could use one, and also, Joe is cute). It's that what elicits a rare, genuine smile from Ron is that his new carpentry buddy is a kickass baker on top of everything else.
THAT DIMPLE JUST MADE MY WEEK. Thank you for helping blot out the memory of those GODDAMN TRIPLETS, sweet little cheek indentation!
