It's Not A Seller's Market

How far into Property Envy did our correspondent get?

Show Attempted: Property Envy.

Topic: Rich people's houses, and how much they cost: host Stephen Collins (not that one) shows footage of a fancy house on the market, and a panel of experts (interior designer Mary McDonald, real estate speculator Jeff Lewis, and real estate agent Brandie Malay) guess how much they're listed for.

How Far I Expected To Get: As a viewer of many home-related programs on HGTV, a fan of Lewis from Interior Therapy and Flipping Out, and a judger of strangers' décor choices (particularly vulgar nouveau riche strangers), I thought I'd probably watch the whole thing.

How Far I Did Get

What Did It: Lewis did what he could to liven up the first segment by making the kinds of mean jokes that charm me on the other Bravo shows he stars in, even though McDonald and Malay were giving NOTHING back (and McDonald, in particular, looked like she hated his guts). But seriously, the whole show was just showing footage of this one house, the panelists guessing what it cost, and Collins telling them. SO WHAT?! It's like a game show without the game!

Worth Taking Another Run At It? It's no Property Brothers, or Property Virgins, or Staged To Perfection, or Love It Or List It, or Flipping Out. So watch any of those instead.
