Meet You All The Way
And if a character played by Rosanna Arquette can't entice Ray Donovan's Mickey to go all the way, that may not mean the transaction is over.
No one could blame Linda (Rosanna Arquette) for going to a beautiful spa; meeting a tall, exotic stranger with a compellingly dodgy backstory; and assuming that if he can afford "a rubdown" at this joint, it's probably safe to have a drink with him not out at an elegant hotel bar but at his son's house -- even after he warns you that it's not the sort of place she'd enjoy. After all, she styles herself a writer; why wouldn't she try to collect experiences? After all, she doesn't know what Mickey Donovan (Jon Voight) is actually about.
So Linda finds herself at Mickey's current crash pad, giving off all possible signals that she would enjoy Knowing Him and his Chain Of Gold in the Biblical sense. Alas, she is not quite his type, but she's close enough that he offers a counter-proposal: "I don't think I could fuck you. You're too old for me. How about a blowjob?" Linda tries to maintain her dignity as best one can under such circumstances: "I couldn't. I'm kind of over it." But Mickey -- the man who just reconfigured "hush money" as "life rights" -- isn't one to back down from a soft pass: "Aw, come on." And then Linda, still trying not to appear too stung by the rejection, tries bravado: "You'd have to put a gun to my head."
Well, Mickey's got one.
When Linda starts sobbing, Mickey realizes that he mistook her tough-dame act for sassy foreplay, and the two part company, Linda just a little bit wiser from the encounter, having learned an extremely valuable lesson.
