Watch The Most Notable Moments Of Ryan Gosling's Saturday Night Live Hosting Début

Yes, Kyle Mooney's bare torso was among them, but not for the reasons he might have liked.

Former child star/multiple Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time last night, just in time for the imminent release of The Big Short (and, maybe more enticingly, the release of the trailer for The Nice Guys). He did...okay? Though it was hard not to notice that he was a lot more comfortable in the filmed sketches than in the ones that happened live. TO WIT:

Breakingest Performance

Right after the monologue came this alien abduction sketch, marked by the fact that (a) pretty much any actor, male or female, could have played Gosling's role in it, and (b) would have probably done so while cracking up significantly less than this.

Most Endless Sketch (tie)

I thought hands-down it would have to be "Hometown Bar," in which Gosling (as himself) gets needled by an old high school antagonist.

Then the episode closed out with this situation involving some discipline-craving elves.

Also: there are two more episodes between now and Christmas. This couldn't wait?

Worst Hate Crime Against Canadians

It's fine to call out that this stereotype-ridden song was written by Americans. But come on, Ryan Gosling and Mike Myers: you know we don't say "aboot"!

Most Judicious Exclusion Of Ryan Gosling

I'm sure part of the reason Gosling didn't make it into this commercial (parody) for Settl was so the show can reuse it in a future episode. And partly because he has no business being on a dating site for straight women who have really lowered their standards.
