Previously
Liv (Kerry Washington) figured out that her father, Eli (Joe Morton), was B613's Command, the guy who trained and later broke Huck (Guillermo Diaz); Liv used her connections to get Jake (Scott Foley), also a B613 soldier, out of what would have probably been lifelong solitary confinement, and he celebrated his freedom by stopping by her place.

Phone Call
Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance
Because Liv is a good manager (and because saving Huck's life cost her kind of a lot), she takes a few seconds off from watching Jake sleep to call Huck and make sure they're okay. (a) They aren't. (b) Huck's not coming in today because he's working on an independent project.

Meeting Time
"Love," American-Style
Who called the meeting? Cyrus (Jeff Perry).
What's it about? He needs to do damage control after Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) confessed to his fake affair last week.
How'd it go? Terrible, because the President and the First Lady (Bellamy Young) still loathe each other -- maybe now more than ever. Cyrus orders them to spend the weekend at Camp David, healing and reconnecting after Fitz's infidelity, giving the media lots of opportunities for happy-family photo ops along the way. Mellie is predictably furious that she will have to be trapped in the sticks because of Fitz's infidelity and general triflingness, and resents having to spend time with their son Teddy because he likes his nanny Marta better than he likes Mellie; Fitz doesn't want to go either, but at least he seems to understand that Cyrus is probably right. As Cyrus storms out, Mellie complains that Fitz has gotten Teddy filthy with baby food. Fitz: "Shut. Up." Mellie: "YOU SHUT UP."

Plot Lightning Round
Quinn (Katie Lowes) determined that Mary's son was Chris Lawrence (Wes Armstrong), who was killed in an FBI raid of a suspected terror cell; she also hacked into Mary's bank account ("because I can") and discovered that the cheque Mary wrote them was for the exact amount that was in her bank account until a couple of days ago!
At the White House, a guy peels off from the official tour and sneaks into places he shouldn't be!
At the Capitol, Liv watches in confusion as a bunch of staffers tear ass down the hall in terror!
At the White House, the tour-ditcher is tackled right outside the Oval Office, yelling that he needs to talk to the President about Operation Remington!
Liv enters the offices of Wisconsin Rep. Jim Struthers (Mark Moses), who's being aggressively questioned by Mary, who turns and shows Liv that she's totally wearing a bomb vest!
The Capitol and White House get evacuated, with Fitz and Mellie moved to a secure bunker until the threat has passed!
After Mary shrieks for a while about how she wanted answers as to why Chris died and no one would listen to her because they were too busy worrying about unfaithful Senators and "those two boys who blew up" either Austin (which, what?) or Boston (which...that happened in this reality?), Struthers says he did look into Chris's death after Mary contacted him, and that Chris was guilty!
Back at OPA, the expositeers tell us that Chris was killed in Chicago, and that the FBI file on the raid was sealed under the Patriot Act, and that after his father died when Chris was sixteen, Chris converted to Islam!
Mary says her gut is telling her that Chris was innocent, and when FBI Commander Randolph Boles (Ernie Hudson) calls in asking what Mary wants, she demands that Chris's FBI file be declassified!
Cyrus finds out that the White House intruder has nothing to do with Mary...and when Cyrus sees his file, he tells the Secret Service to let the guy go!
Huck is about to draw on Eli when Cyrus calls and tells Eli they have a Remington problem!
After Liv's dispatched her gladiators to various administrative support tasks, Boles calls to say that Mary won't get the file unless she turns herself in, and Liv improvises that the FBI wants Mary to release some of the hostages go, so Mary releases the six Struthers staffers!
After getting released from his bunker and handed the incredibly true truth about Chris, Fitz rolls into the conference room where White House types have been patched in to Boles to monitor the hostage situation, and tells Boles that if they can get a shot at Mary when her hand's off the detonator, they can take it!
Harrison (Columbus Short) calls Liv and tells her there are FBI agents with sniper rifles outside!
When Mary hears movement outside, Liv asks Harrison what's happening, and he tells her he's overheard someone on a walkie-talkie saying that Fitz is running point on the operation!
Just when Mary is about to crack and blow them all up, Liv shoves her away from the window and stands in it herself, making sure the President can see here and therefore DEFINITELY WON'T GIVE THE ORDER TO SHOOT!
Boles calls to say that now Mary will have to release the Congressman if she wants to see the file, and that Liv can't talk to Fitz because the President doesn't negotiate with terrorists, which Liv now is!
On Liv's behalf, Jake calls Fitz to ask what's in Chris's classified file, and Fitz is like, "No!"
Jesus. That was exhausting.

Meeting Time
Trailer Pitch
Who called the meeting? Eli.
What's it about? Since this Peter Foster (Patrick St. Esprit) decided to expose himself by home-invading the White House, Eli wanted to give him some more Operation Remington hush money.
How'd it go? Pretty crappy all around. Peter remains convinced that he's "the only honorable person" he knows, and when Eli walks out and into Huck pointing a gun at him, Huck doesn't even get the pleasure of scaring Eli, who says he clocked Huck when he was tailing Eli earlier.

Meeting Time
"Remember When We Were Boning?"
Who called the meeting? Abby (Darby Stanchfield).
What's it about? Because Huck is MIA and Quinn is a terrible substitute Huck in terms of her ability to hack into the FBI's database, Abby wants David (Joshua Malina) to get her Chris's file somehow.
How'd it go? It seems bad: David says that Liv is an adrenaline junkie and that he doesn't want to jeopardize his job doing favours for her. But maybe Abby was actually more effective than, at first, she seems....

Meeting Time
Video Killed The Terrorist Star
Who called the meeting? FBI Agent Laura Kenney (Aarti Mann).
What's it about? She wants to let Harrison know that he and the rest of OPA is on the wrong side in this Chris fight.
How'd it go? Pretty well from her perspective: she shows Harrison a terrorist recruiting video starring Chris that is pretty damning.
-
Meeting Time
Right vs. Pragmatism
Who called the meeting? David Rosen.
What's it about? Since Harrison saw "Agent Kenney" drive away from the scene in a State Department car, and since David himself determined that there isn't, nor has there ever been an FBI agent by that name, he wants Cyrus to give him Chris's FBI file so that OPA can figure out what the hell is going on.
How'd it go? It seems like things are going Cyrus's way when Cyrus reminds David that he owes Cyrus for saving him from substitute-teaching. But then David reveals that he accessed the FBI's personnel files and determined that one Gordon Bates, the commander of the operation in which Chris was killed, got fired in disgrace while everyone else involved got promoted and big raises, something fishy is happening, and that the head of the DNC might make some use of this information so close to an election. And thus, Cyrus cracks and says that it isn't what David thinks it is.

Phone Call
Was Mary Right? Yes And No!
After David has totally dominated Cyrus, he and Cyrus and an Intelligence head and Fitz all gather in a very private room to call Liv on speakerphone and tell her that Chris wasn't a terrorist: he was an embedded CIA agent who recruited almost sixty assets. He was killed because he was SO GOOD at his job that the FBI didn't know he was in the CIA, but that none of this can come out -- Mary can't know -- or the lives of all Chris's former assets would be at risk. So Liv had better get to selling this cover story! Which, reluctantly, she does.

Passages
Mary Nesbitt, 1962-2013
After spending her final day on earth starring in one holy hell of a news story, Mary Nesbitt lost her life after a short battle with a suicide vest that she sewed using techniques she learned in Home Ec, an industrial glue gun she had to buy specially, and an explosives recipe she found on the internet. She is definitely not survived by her son, a fake Al-Qaeda operative.

Meeting Time
Tattletale!
Who called the meeting? Quinn.
What's it about? Huck, whose computer she peeked on in his absence.
How'd it go? Well, Quinn has the bad job of telling Liv that Huck has become obsessed with Eli (not that Quinn knows why), so now Quinn's conscience is clear but Liv probably just wet her pants.

Dialogue
Living Well Is The Best Revenge? ...No?
I am celebrating."Celebrating"?Today was a good day.I would think the last thing you would want to do is celebrate. I would think you'd be miserable: you missed out on your happy ending today. Olivia Pope being blown to bits? That's your dream, isn't it?Ohhhhh no. That's my nightmare. If your whore had died today, brave and strong, protecting a congressman inside the Capitol, with the nation watching? Honey, the nails, the wood, the cross you would build and hammer her on, the worship you would feel for the rest of your days down on your knees, praying to St. Olivia Pope, that would be-- I'd lose. Our little war. I'd lose. I am spectacular, but I can't compete with religious fervour, so no, I was not hoping that she would be blown up today. I am not miserable that she survived. I am celebrating. Because Olivia Pope still walks this earth! She's still alive! And as long as she's still alive, she's your flaw. Your Achilles' heel. Which makes her my weapon. She's the strings that, if need be, I will pull to make my puppet husband dance. So cheers, baby! Drink up. I live to fight another day. -

Meeting Time
"Killed Out," You Say?
Who called the meeting? Huck.
What's it about? How he spent his personal day.
How'd it go? Bad. He tells Liv that he didn't kill Eli -- but that he did, on Eli's orders, kill Peter Foster, because he still can't defy any order Eli gives him and is still all fucked up.

Dialogue
"It's Not That I'm Not Happy To See You, But...How Is It That You Got Released From B613 Purgatory When Basically No One Else Ever Has Been?"
Did he send you to watch me? To report my every move back to him?"He"? You mean your father?Nobody gets out. Nobody. So I want to know: why did he release you?I don't know. He didn't give me a reason. But there is one, with him. There's always a reason!Listen to me! I don't know why he let me go! I have no idea! None! Your guess is as good as mine! I do not know!Nobody walks away from him. He controls everything. I need to know: how are you here?I never thought I'd get out of that hole. Never. It's not just the dirt floor and the darkness that gets you. It's the isolation. The silence breaks something in you. I just kept picturing your face. Your face saved me. I'm here because you saved me.This is not a fairy tale. This is not the happily ever after. If you're still alive, it's because he still owns you, it's because you're still useful to him and he's going to find a way to use you against me.Liv--Don't feel bad about it: he still owns me too.
