Stephen Colbert Shares One Of His Last Report Moments With Old Friend Amy Sedaris
God bless these adorable knuckleheads.
While it's very sad that The Colbert Report is ending because it's draining the world of just a little bit of joy (and quite a lot of savage and desperately needed satire), the one slightly silvery lining is the show's long goodbye. Having the chance to close out long-running storylines -- using the word "storylines" verrrrrry loosely, of course -- has already brought us Stephen's bear ceasefire a couple of weeks ago. And last night, "Stephen" got to say goodbye to one of Stephen's oldest friends and collaborators, Amy Sedaris.
Sedaris has long been a favourite guest of The Late Show With David Letterman, and since her old Exit 57 and Strangers With Candy co-star Colbert is taking over Letterman's seat, it's a safe bet that she'll frequently pop up over there too -- maybe even becoming Colbert's own Regis Philbin (a.k.a. reliable fill-in whenever a guest drops out last-minute). But until then, it's sweet to see these two goofs, who have loved each other for well over a decade, getting together to say a joint farewell to The Colbert Report that's both heartwarming...
...and silly.
In other words: it's perfect.
