The Farm Will Feature All The Very Most Important People In Dwight Schrute's Life
As news trickles out on casting for The Farm, NBC's forthcoming spinoff from The Office, one's first response may be incredulity. A Nazi great-uncle? Sure, that scans with what we know about Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson). But now he has two siblings? That we've never heard him talk about? Ever? In nineteen seasons of The Office or however many it's been? I guess since Frasier gave Frasier a brand-new brother and contradicted Cheers canon by making his dad a cop and not a PhD, the producers of The Farm figure it's fine.
And anyway, just because Dwight's never talked about these characters doesn't mean they couldn't have existed all along: after all, he's a very private person and maybe he just didn't want his Dunder Mifflin colleagues to know much about his personal life.
