You Cannot Miss Darlene Love's Last-Ever Late Show 'Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)'
Seriously, though.
As cute as it was to see David Letterman zooming out of The Late Show's annual Holiday Toy Demo on his motorbike, it was a reminder that an even more cherished Late Show tradition is about to end. If next week is Christmas, that means tonight is "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)."
Every year since 1986 -- when David Letterman's late-night talk show was still literally Late Night, and aired on NBC -- Darlene Love has visited him for a performance of her rousing R&B Christmas song. And while the arrangement or the number of performers changes from year to year, it's always SO GREAT, as this supercut proves.
Love describes the process in this interview, which makes clear how important it's been to her to make this number a special event for herself and for Dave -- and for all of us, of course. Tonight's rendition is sure to be both emotional and a total barn-burner. Let's not miss it.
The Late Show airs tonight (and every weeknight) at 11:35 PM on CBS.
