'Ruling India Was Wrong'

Well...ruling India was wrong, but thinking that saying so is an appropriate thing for a British manager to say to a British report of Indian descent is also wrong, and was among the things women were wrong about in the latest installment of The Newsroom.

  • that Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) is being needlessly paranoid by making her repeat "off the record" before telling her some sensitive shit
  • that the mob of angry viewers is wrong to wield metaphorical pitchforks at the editorial minds behind NewsNight
  • that Charlie (Sam Waterston) would be able to discern from her outfit that she's dressed for a party
  • that "liquid sex" is an appropriate way to describe herself in the middle of a meeting for which she's charging her fee
  • that Sloan (Olivia Munn) should be able to snake a "local colour" story from Elliot (David Harbor) because after reading it he didn't "call it"
  • that she should wear a pendant on a leather strand, to work, in 2012
  • forgetting to sign a book for a Sandy relief auction
  • taking Neal (Dev Patel) away from his actual work duties on election night to track down the bidder who won it after someone else forged her inscription and signature
  • thinking that a reference in an election coverage meeting to "South Carolina 4" is "South Carolina for" and launching an extended "who's on first"-style pointless conversational volley
  • showing up to work obviously not having showered
  • referring to the ex-boyfriend she was fucking, and then letting Will (Jeff Daniels) make her feel bad for her word choice by agreeing, "I didn't like how it sounded"
  • still being angry at Will for not having forgiven her for having cheated on him during their relationship
  • being charmed by Reese (Chris Messina)
  • thinking Reese might be interesting enough to be gay
  • believing a Wikipedia entry as to which university Mackenzie (Emily Mortimer) attended
  • taking Neal away from his actual work duties on election night to correct her Wikipedia page
  • trying to bust out Elliot's story on the air and getting 100% of the facts wrong
  • not being able to follow the sound of a voice (three times) while blindfolded
  • agreeing with Jim not to admit the mistake of prematurely calling a race in Michigan
  • bringing up the Genoa report on the air
  • trying to win a point by sputtering, "And I'll tell you why: because"
  • trying to win over an underling of Indian descent by saying "Ruling India was wrong"
  • trying to win a point by sniffing, "You're like a foot taller than a person is supposed to be"
