Amy Poehler > Pitbull

According to New Yorkers' reactions to this Billy On The Street segment, the math definitely checks out.

Though my personal favourite Billy On The Street segments are the ones where he's interacting with/berating regular New Yorkers, the bits with celebrity guests can be fun too. Sometimes, it's because the celebrity -- who, if she or he agreed to be on Billy On The Street in the first place, is probably the kind of person who gets it -- is being made to play along with a bit that's faintly embarrassing, as when Paul Rudd had to stand by while Billy Eichner asked a succession of strangers whether they'd sleep with Rudd.

(Um: no-brainer?) But what made one of last night's bits, with guest star Amy Poehler, such a treat was seeing the unguarded reactions of New Yorkers as they realized how close they were standing to greatness.

Granted, most of the thrill we see in everyone's faces as Poehler reveals herself is just that they probably figured the tiny person in the Pitbull mask was some random production assistant or possibly hooky-playing middle-schooler (she's short, I'm saying). But I'm pretending that it's also that any one of us would rather run into Amy Poehler in the Flatiron District than Pitbull (duh) but also rather than just about any other celebrity because Amy Poehler is one of the awesomest stars there is. I mean, can you imagine these people getting as excited to be surprised by...Dustin Hoffman? Al Pacino? Poehler's own co-star Adam Scott? Some other diminutive celebrity? No. "It's Not Pitbull -- It's Amy Poehler!" turned into a referendum on her place in the celebrity firmament, and other than that weirdly smooth business dude who was unfazed to see her in front of him, it seems like New York has rated her exactly as high as she deserves. Well done, everyone.
