Brooklyn Nine-Nine Introduces Captain Holt's Sister, Inspiration For The Night's Best Quotations
They're the original odd couple!
Will the trials Captain Holt faces during Kevin's sabbatical LITERALLY NEVER END? Last week, he got mumps and had to be quarantined. This week...his sister's coming to town. And basically everything he has to say about it is memorable and quotable.
Gina and Terry are delighted to learn that they're going to get new insight into their laconic boss by meeting his younger sister -- "Hurricane Debbie," according to Holt, "a real drama queen." Gina snickers at what might earn someone such a handle in the Holt family: "What, did she laugh out loud one time?"
Debbie herself -- the great Niecy Nash -- lives up (or down, depending on your own dramatic orientation) to Holt's warnings, entering in a flurry of animal print and announcing that her cabbie told her, "You will die tonight." "I mean, can you even, Raymond?!" she demands.
Later, Debbie dares to challenge Holt's image of himself by grousing that, when they were kids, he used to be fun.
But after Holt learns that Debbie's planning to spend six weeks with him because her husband's just left her, he reaches back to their childhood and builds a fort in his office in which to talk about it. Aw.
BONUS THAT QUOTE! The episode C-plot involves Rosa and Boyle battling over a choice apartment an old lady's just died in. When the landlord comes to the station to answer questions, Rosa sees her opening and leaps on it, informing Boyle, "I've been laying it on real thick." And OMG, we flash back and see that she totally has!
CAREFUL ROSA HE'S GOING TO THINK YOU'RE COMING ON TO HIM!!!
