What Does Rogelio Need An Acting Award For When He's Already Won Our Hearts?
On the eve of the Palomas -- the highest honour in telenovelas -- Rogelio finds time to honour Xo.
The winter finale of Jane The Virgin has no shortage of drama, from Mike's new pursuit of Rafael on the theory that he's Sin Rostro to Magda getting revenge on a drunk/nosy Alba by pushing her down a flight of stairs and also the reveal that Magda's been faking her paraplegia this whole time. But nothing is or could be more dramatic than the excitement surrounding Rogelio's Best Actor nomination at the Palomas, the Emmys of telenovelas. It's exactly the kind of occasion that brings out the best in Rogelio, whose punch list leaves nothing to chance, from the acceptance speech he's certain he's going to get to give to the official hashtags of his imminent victory.
Rogelio even gets a chance to demonstrate the look his biggest rival, Santiago, has decidedly NOT mastered -- "a proper 'I'm longing for you but cannot have you' face" -- because Rogelio has current real-life experience to draw on.
It's because of this unfulfilled longing that, even in the midst of all his own excitement, Rogelio is able to take a moment to support Xo on her way out the door to a big meeting with a music producer, and offer her a gift few ever get to enjoy.
I want one. At least.
