Long Island Sexpressway
Called to the site of a domestic disturbance in Babylon, Long Island, cops find Tommy (Joseph Masi) shot to death, with his estranged girlfriend Jessie (Yvonne Zima) standing over him protesting her innocence.
Several months earlier, Jessie was raped by PI Michael Provo (Enver Gjokaj), who has framed Jessie for Tommy's murder to prevent her from pursuing charges against him.
"He said, 'Bitch, you can't tell me what to do.'"
The reason the SVU crew has anything to do with this case is that Jessie's rape had taken place in the Meatpacking District, which seems...iffy? And then Provo's Manhattan rape trial and Jessie's Long Island murder trial both end up happening at the same time? I...?
Benson (Mariska Hargitay), mostly because Amaro (Danny Pino) doubts Jessie's rape report because it happened when she was very drunk.
Manhattan DA Barba (Raúl Esparza) and Suffolk County DA Pam James (Jane Kaczmarek) agree to throw out both Provo's rape charge and Jessie's murder charge so that they can pursue the more complicated murder charge against Provo, which involves a whole bunch of lying witnesses Provo had blackmailed into testifying on his behalf, making fake 911 calls, and generally going to a whole bunch of trouble to keep one single mother's mouth shut. Anyway, she gets reunited with her son and no vigilantes shoot any perps, for once, so I guess that's a win.
