Trapped In The Closet

Initial Crime

After picking up Jeremy Jones (Max Carpenter) at a fine establishment called Hotmale, Charles Murphy (Paul Fitzgerald) gets tied up, assaulted, robbed, and anally raped -- one of a series of rapes perpetrated upon closeted men.

Real Crime

Not so much a "Real Crime" as an escalation of the perp's MO: a Mr. Dunleavy is found tied up, raped, and dead. Though he died of a heart attack, there were "precipitating circumstances."

It's 9 PM, Y'All!

"He kept saying, 'How does it feel to be the fag?'"; "You scared little faggot!...Oh, I see, you're in on it too, you backstabbing bitch!"

Egregious Breach Of Procedure

Because Jeremy's husband Mason (Andes Quintero) provides valuable information -- that Jeremy has claimed that he only cheats on Mason with women, who like to give him gifts -- ADA Barba (Raúl Esparza) tries to get the judge to throw out spousal privilege on the grounds that Mason and Jeremy were married (in Provincetown) before New York recognized same-sex marriages from other states. The gambit doesn't work.

Who on the SVU Team Is Taking It Personally?

As a married man, Amaro (Danny Pino) judges the closeted victims for living a lie with their wives.

Verdict

The jury convicts Jeremy of unlawful imprisonment, but is deadlocked on assault and robbery charges. However, the cops go back to Mason and ambush him with Mrs. Dunleavy (Jenny Bacon), who gets him to admit that Jeremy stole Mrs. Dunleavy's anniversary gift and gave it to Mason. With that, there's enough evidence to bring murder charges.
