Is Julia Still 'Weaving' A Web Of Deceit...But Now With Her Hair?
A sketchy mop on Parenthood requires an investigation from Wig Cop.
This season of Parenthood has found Julia dealing with, pretty much, a single issue: her shaky marriage to Joel, which now is in limbo while the two are separated. And while a common pop culture breakup trope involves a lady showing her new independent spirit by changing up her look with a new haircut, Julia hasn't done that yet. Maybe that's because the separation wasn't her idea, and she's superstitiously keeping her hair the same so that if and when Joel comes home, nothing much will have changed. Or maybe it's just that she doesn't want to change her look because she paid so much for a human-hair wig.
Let's examine the evidence collected by my Wig CSI team.
Here's Julia, sitting outside (though possibly under some kind of awning) while she discusses with Sarah the pain of learning from her credit-card company's fraud detection department that Joel was maybe on a date. Hey, here's a question: where's her part? Because it looks like she has hairs laid lengthwise over the top of her head and glued down with hairspray.
A shot of her from the same scene, with her chin dipped down to show us more of the top of her head, really only raises more questions than it answers. From the front, it looks like her part should proceed from the break in her hairline that's in a vertical line directly above the middle of her right eyebrow, but the part-esque looking area on top of her head is like five miles to the left of there.
But while I'd be willing to accept that, in the restaurant outdoor bar scene, Erika Christensen was rocking a weave...like, this is just a wig, right? Look how clumpy it is! The crown of her head looks square here, and the teased bit right in the center of her forehead just looks like it's poking out from the seam that's an inch away.
"Julia, you're lying with your mouth and your hair. I can't even look at you anymore." "But Joel--" "BUT YOURSELF."
