Marriage, Inconvenience

The centerpiece of last night's Revenge was the wedding of Fake Amanda (Margarita Levieva) and Jack (Nick Wechsler), attended by the couple's few friends, including Real Amanda (Emily VanCamp), the woman who had always envisioned marrying Jack herself. Surrounding the wedding was all the usual scheming and whatnot, about which we have some questions.

Conrad's running for governor?

HAHA great idea! What is it with ABC shows and political campaigns? Scandal is still chewing over an election that happened before the events of the series even began; Nashville tried to make us care about whether Teddy (Eric Close) was going to become mayor of the titular city when all we wanted was more scenes of Rayna (Connie Britton) and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) snarking at each other. Now Conrad (Henry Czerny) is running for governor of New York? I'm not sure I love his chances. Admittedly, he's shown initiative (see what I did there?) in achieving his evil ends, and no doubt will employ some kind of shenanigans in his pursuit of power, but hasn't at least 50% of the voting population attended at least one fancy society party at which Conrad or one of his family members has been publicly disgraced?

Does Emily love Aiden or what?

Of course Emily is still carrying a torch for Jack, and the arc of the series is undoubtedly going to put them together (unless he gets tragically killed so that can be a catalyst for her to abandon her methodical planning and go into some kind of berserker rage and kill everyone who crosses her path, which would also be okay with me). And of course her relationship with Aiden (Barry Sloane) was born of their shared interest in organized, slow-burn vengeance. Their romantic entanglement seemed one of mutual convenience at first, but when he threatened to ditch her, she seemed genuinely distressed -- and not just for practical reasons. Meanwhile, she's also trying to start things up with Daniel (Joshua Bowman) after telling him the truth, for one damn time, in the last episode. Does Emily actually have feelings for anyone other than Jack, or does she just want to be the girl with the most cake?

Why is Nolan giving Padma the benefit of the doubt?

How much shit does Nolan (Gabriel Mann) have to go through before he will understand that some people are just evil for the fun of being evil and that Padma (Dilshad Vadsaria) might be one of them? I guess it could be true that Padma is being extorted via the health and well-being of her loved ones. But I don't buy it. Why does Nolan? How not-gay is he?

How long before one of the Graysons murders Amanda?

I guess I have to give Amanda credit for her resourcefulness in getting Conrad to give up his stake in The Stowaway by showing him all of the anti-Grayson evidence on Emily's computer. But now Conrad thinks that Amanda is the one who's been fucking up his and his family's lives for the past year and a half. Sure, he caved in the short term, but it seems obvious that (a) he's going to take her out, and that (b) this will be the likely plot device to bring Jack and Emily back together where they belong (unless the berserker rage thing happens. Now that I've mentioned it, it sounds pretty cool, right?).

When Amanda dies, can Jack give Carl a better name?

Because it's enough already.
