Did Dancing With The Stars Land The Buttery-Smooth Moves Of Paula Deen?

This and more from the world of TV food in today's roundup.

It's the time of year when Dancing With The Stars starts rolling out news of its cast, and while the "Stars" part of the title has basically always required quotation marks, this one is really right on the line: rumour has it that Season 21 will feature Paula Deen. It's been a minute since Deen was publicly disgraced over her use of racist epithets, but as recently as last month she caused herself more embarrassment by tweeting a photo of her son in Latino brownface. If the rumour of her casting is true, it's a big vote of confidence in her by ABC, or they're just hoping for hate-watching ratings. If it's not true...well, no one will be surprised, because WHAT.

Elsewhere in food-based reality TV news: The Biggest Loser has dropped Alison Sweeney, its host of the past eight years/thirteen seasons. There's no word yet as to who will replace her when the show returns for Season 17, so let's go ahead and recast it ourselves!

Finally, Daniel MacEachern has a report on last night's MasterChef, which found the final six aspirants descending on the restaurant Chaya, home of tuna tartare. Were the results...ahem...fishy?
