Savour The Awkwardness Of Above Average's 'Village Idiot'
You've definitely got twelve minutes to spend with an affable idiot about town.
Fans of comedy do not need me to talk up Dave Hill. The comic (and sometime metal god) is well known for his standup, his gig as host of The Best Show, his books of humorous essays, and his Twitter feed -- a year-round delight that turns truly epic whenever he goes home to visit his dad in Cleveland.
My dad and I are going to church and then we're getting breakfast and then I honestly don't know what the f@#k we're gonna do after that.

My dad doesn't have a hair dryer. It's like he's a damn Amishman. And now my hair looks like hell!

My sister asked my dad and me if we want pumpkin pie now or later. We want it now, dammit! How is this even a question?! F#%k the world!

Hill's latest project is a collaboration with Above Average -- proud home of Mike O'Brien's 7 Minutes In Heaven -- called "Village Idiot." In his most assured role yet, Hill plays "himself," a gregarious dope given to accosting famous acquaintances, with results ranging from awkward to accidentally offensive. The last installment of the trilogy dropped today, so sail into Bon Jovi Friday* by watching them back to back to back.
