Stephen Colbert Offers A Sweet Tribute To His Late Mother

Last night, in the midst of a flurry of eulogies for James Gandolfini, Stephen Colbert had his own remembrance to offer. Colbert's mother, Lorna Tuck Colbert, passed away last week at the age of ninety-two, and in his first episode back after the sad event, Colbert used the cold open for a tribute to his mother, who sounds like she was a pretty cool lady.

At the end of the episode -- which Colbert got through with impressive composure, under the circumstances -- the sign-off showed off how well Colbert learned one of the skills his mother taught him.
