Jesus Has A Super-Cool New Partner In Crime!
Whenever the baby comes, it's going to have to fight another striking co-star for camera time.
Jesus Foster has a lot going on this season -- at least when he manages to find his way to the set, that is. He's trying, apparently for the first time, to participate in organized athletics by joining the wrestling team. He's developing confusing, complicated feelings for his lone female teammate. He's just gotten dumped by his long-distance girlfriend. And amid it all, he's been working on his health.
As we all know, since it was part of a major S1 plotline, Jesus has ADHD, for which he had been prescribed a drug to mitigate his symptoms. This proved useful to Mariana, who borrowed from his supply to sell pills at school and raise money to help out their troubled biological mother. But since the show's midseason return, Jesus has decided that he no longer wants to take his medication, and has been researching alternatives to keep his ADHD symptoms at bay. Joining the wrestling team has been part of that effort, since exercise helps. But the other element of his new unmedicated life is changing his diet.
What has that entailed? I'm so glad you asked! According to Jesus's research, some ADHD patients have had good results by cleaning up their diets, cutting out heavily processed foods (particularly those with artificial dyes). He's even declined apparently healthy meals -- at Girls United, Callie's halfway house, for instance -- if he couldn't be totally sure of their ingredients. Jesus is being extremely conscientious about what he eats, and is setting an excellent example for any ADHD patients in the viewing audience who may want to try going drug-free.
And hey, here's some good news for them! As we see in the latest episode, Jesus has managed to find a lunch option that's delicious, fun, and, I guess, totally organic? I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about, given the way the camera lovingly lingered on it. Jesus's lunch got such a beauty shot, in fact, that said lunch's manufacturer can throw it straight up on its Tumblr page with a special The Fosters call-out!
CYBER-AWESOME!
