Shitstain should be euphoric about the progress of his relationship with Jacqueline. But Sam's ruined his life.
Sam may be a very talented musician and generally a pretty cool hang, but there have also been signs, since we've met him, that he isn't always easy to live or work with. He'll blow off a photo shoot; he'll use a homophobic slur in an interview; he'll use less than polite methods to get the attention of the people who work for him.
Honey Nutz and Shitstain will put up with lot from Sam because the three of them go way back, but when Sam blows off a recording session, Shitstain and Honey Nutz decide the time is right to record their own track behind his back, leak it online, and make Gretchen tell Sam so he won't get mad. It's too late by the time she reaches him -- surprise, Shitstain and Honey Nutz aren't good at "leaking" music, and coming across it unawares has caused Sam to hole up in a panic fort -- but Gretchen tricks him into a meeting at the diner, where it turns out the battle has extended beyond diss tracks. When Sam defends the one he made in response to the track Shitstain and Honey Nutz made without him, he has a clear analogy in mind for the situation: "Recording tracks behind my back? Treating me like you Salt-n-Pepa and I'm Spinderella and shit?"
That's when Shitstain decides he's had enough, and busts out That Quote -- the line of the night:
