'My Parenting Style Is: Eco-Kosher, Shamanistic, Organic, Natural, And For Highest And Best Good'
Shira has some crazy ideas about parenting. Thank God Bravo found her and put her on our TVs.
- No no no no, not near my crystals.
- You do that while I do some reiki, okay?
- My parenting style is: eco-kosher, shamanistic, organic, natural, and for highest and best good.
- My singing bowls, and meditation, aromatherapy: this is my line, my Diva Mama Aromatherapy Synergy Sprays. It effects change on all three levels of your being simultaneously.
- I believe in auras. An aura is the colours that are more based on your energetic field, not your physical, but they surround your physical body, and I can actually see them.
- My mom told me that my aura was like, lavender, and I don't really know what that means, but it kind of sounds cool?
- What is that?
A bullet.
Please tell me you were not carrying that in your schoolbag.
I was not carrying it in my schoolbag.
Where was it?
In my schoolbag. - Yonah is an indigo child, and with that aura comes a whole host of interesting characteristics.
- Indigos are here with a greater purpose. They're very creative, they're very out-of-the-box, but that energy can be very jarring for people.
- Most indigos have a form of ADHD, but all ADHD kids are not legitimately indigos.
- I actually don't know what an indigo child is. My mom is more into that than anyone in the family.
- Indigos are here on the planet right now to break down old paradigms. But he also breaks me down.
- Guess what I made?
I'm not eating that.
Why would you say that?
'Cause everything you make -- no offense -- sucks. - He's tough, but I know him better than anybody. And when I see the effectiveness of the tools that I use, all I need are a few of those moments to keep me going.
- The toughest thing about my mom is that she is completely obsessed with my brother. It's just not really fair.
- I'm so dizzy!
That's what happens after you do energy work. - Shira's methods only work temporarily.
I FREAKIN' HATE YOU!!! - A lot of people have suggested to me that I should put him on medication. Medication is wrong on so many levels. It absolutely tweaks you in ways that we shouldn't necessarily be tweaked.
- There is nothing wrong with Yonah. Yonah is exactly who he's supposed to be in exactly the reason that he's supposed to be this child at this time.
- Shira's been married, like, five times.
Four times. - I can see why her previous husband had trouble with the situation, 'cause it's The Emma Yonah Shira Show, all the time.
- To love Shira is to love and be open to being very present with the children. But it's hard.
- Many indigo children like Yonah end up in the special ed system, but what the teachers don't understand is that indigos, they're not really "special ed": what they are are just very unique children.
- I want you to have a very good day. I want you to use your spray to keep yourself clear, to relax. Come on, go ahead. Not right in your face: around your auric field.
- Do you honestly think that meds wouldn't help him?
There's a more important question to that question: why in the world would a mother want to have to medicate her son? - Yonah's been on medication in the past, and it has never worked. The reason he can't sit still in a chair is because indigos don't fit well into public schools. ...He's not learning in the way his brain wants to learn.
- That was like-- When Yonah was very little, he walked into a store, he went right up to a gong, and he started to play it. But he wasn't, like, hitting it like a child just bangs on it; he was hitting it purposefully. He must have been, maybe, six years old.
That's amazing.
It was pretty amazing. - Even though it's supposed to be our day, my mom's still talking about Yonah, Yonah, Yonah.
- Emma, get one for Yonah that you think he might like.
No!
They get a little jealous about, "I wanna go with Mama to the spiritual store! It's my turn to get incense!" - I am an eco-kosher shamanistic goddess.
You forgot gluten-free. - Going to see the psychiatrist is something that I promised Andy that I would do. I'm not saying that I'm really dragging my feet, because I want to be more open-minded than that, but I think I'm dragging my heart.
- I don't know-- Are you familiar with the term "indigo"?
I did do some reading on it.
Indigos can't stand in line. They don't like to waste their time.
But most people have to wait on a line. You can't go through your whole life without ever being able to wait on a line.
But they're here to change the world! - I want to ask your opinion and I want you to be really honest with me, okay? I want to know what you think about considering going back on medication and how that would make you feel.
Did the school tell you to ask that?
They think you're a little bit easier to manage when you're on medication, and they think that it helps you.
Usually the teachers that ask that. The kids are fine, because they laugh.
Okay.
'Cause I do stuff on purpose and I'm a pretty fun man.
You are a pretty funny man, honey, but you understand that we have a situation here--
I say no.
Okay, and I absolutely want to honour and respect what you're saying, but people are suggesting, strongly, that I put you on medication.
I don't care.
I know.
I don't care about their opinion. I still say no.
So tell me why. Why do you say that?
'Cause I don't like pills. First of all. Second of all, I was meant to be a hard kid to manage. If you want to put me back on medication, you can do that once I'm dead.
Honey!
But I'm immortal so I'll never die. - You got an A+? You got 100% in math?!
I got a 100% on the first week of school and you didn't act that ecstatic.
This is more about Yonah right now, and his change to his new school? - I'm sorry, okay, but let's just take the energy, and [spritzing aromatherapy spray] hold onto this.
