I Am The Dinghy From Revenge
I am the dinghy from Revenge.
I know what you're all thinking. Right in the middle of a tense middle-of-the-ocean standoff, as the attractive young newlyweds are scrambling to get away from the gun-wielding psychopath, the action is ground to a halt as they prepare the means for their escape: a collapsible "boat" that actually bears a closer resemblance to a big pool floatie.
You need to be fair, though; a small sailboat like the Amanda can't very well have a full-size lifeboat hanging off its side. It's not the freaking Titanic. You do need to have a backup for those times when the guy who's trying to steal your bar stows away in your galley and ruins your honeymoon, but said backup has to be watertight and fit in a cupboard. I'm your best option, even if your nail-biting escape is going to turn slightly comical when you deploy me and I make a slightly rude noise. "Here I am, ready to take you to safety! Floomp!"
But I think that, as my time with the Revenge Hamptonites ended, I managed to redeem myself. The advantage of an inflatable escape dinghy is that I pack away for convenient storage. The disadvantage is that my usefulness lasts only as long as my body remains intact -- and it doesn't take much to compromise my structural integrity. The important thing is that Jack (Nick Wechsler) was able to use me to stay alive long enough to be rescued and ferried to hospital. And then Emily (Emily VanCamp) and the injured Amanda (Margarita Levieva) were able to get in me just in time for the Amanda to blow up, so that they weren't left treading water -- a particular blessing since Amanda was barely clinging to life. But a slow leak is still a leak, and as I gradually deflated and took on water, only one of the ex-juvie sisters was sufficiently unharmed to survive, and the other slipped away into the briny deep, never to be seen again. You're welcome.
I would be proud of my part in Revenge in any case, but most of all because it brought me to the attention of a very special someone. Mark got in touch through my agent, and we're getting married next spring.
